María Lioce, MD, MPH is Scientific Program Officer for the Global Collaborations Program (GCP) at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and also works with the Regional Advisor on Workers′ Health at the Pan American Health Organization / World Health Organization. She came to NIOSH in 2004 from her home country of Venezuela to work as an occupational physician. She has a master degree in Occupational Health and Public Health, with eighteen years of practice. She worked as a professor for seven years at the Central University of Venezuela. Her responsibilities include to be the NIOSH Liaison for the Pan American Health Organization Area of Sustainable Development and World Health Organization (WHO), Initiative Leader for the Global Plan of Action of WHO Collaboration Center Network in Occupational Health, Team Leader for the NIOSH GCP, NIOSH representative to the CDC Global Health Leadership Board; work jointly with PAHO and NIOSH in theWHO project Protecting Health Care Workers in International Setting and Perform Specific Projects for Latino workers globally and in the United States.
